St Nicholas Priory: unusual wedding venue in Exeter

This post is a something a little different for me.  Real couples but, on this occasion, not an actual wedding!

Earlier this year, I was asked to take some photographs of a really special wedding venue in Exeter.  St Nicholas Priory is the 900 year old guest wing of a former Benedictine Priory in Exeter, so when I heard that they were starting to offer the space for weddings, I was particularly excited!  I really love venues that are a little quirky or unusual, as I just think that it creates a really different and particular look for your wedding.  With the old fireplaces, winding staircases and stunning leaded glass windows, there are so many beautiful opportunities for photographs at this wonderfully romantic, historic venue.  St Nicholas Priory has several different rooms licensed for the marriage ceremony, from the panelled parlour to the stunning Great Hall with its grand fireplace, then there are other spaces for drinks and canap├ęs under the stone arches in the cellar, or kitchen.

With the help of two lovely real couples, we had a little play around and captured some images using the different spaces in and around the Priory.  Alex and Cathryn have been married themselves for a few years, and kindly volunteered to be our first set of models, with Cathryn wearing a gorgeous floral crown created by Poppys of Exeter and dress borrowed from Pirouette. Our second lovely couple were Helen and Lauren, who married earlier this year and were kind enough to come and model for us again in their own dresses.  Eve Ashby was responsible for the beautiful make-up and Cathryn's hair, and Kylie McKay created hairstyles for Helen and Lauren.

Needless to say, if you were thinking about getting married here and still needed a photographer, I'd be rather pleased to hear from you!  Here is a selection of the images at St Nicholas Priory, Exeter:

South Devon wedding: Ayesha & Sam at Noss Mayo

Congratulations to Ayesha and Sam, who married at Noss Mayo in South Devon yesterday!  And also to their baby son Guy, who was christened during the wedding ceremony.  Ayesha looked absolutely stunning in her beautiful Sassi Holford dress.  After the ceremony at Noss Mayo, we popped to nearby Newton Ferrers for some photographs at the harbour there.  Then the new Mr and Mrs Bradley had the most wonderful celebration on top of the cliffs nearby, with a beautiful open-sided marquee looking out towards the sea.  The decoration in the marquee was really fabulous, with beautiful clouds of gypsophila mixed with lavender and scrabble tiles for the guests' name places.  It was a misty day, and we were only treated to the faintest glimpse of the sea through the low cloud, but that made it even more exciting when the sun peeked through for five minutes at sunset!    Here is a little preview of their beautiful wedding day:
