Farm wedding in Cornwall: a preview of Holly and Mark's celebrations

Last Saturday, Holly and Mark got married on Holly's parents' farm, with a beautiful outdoor ceremony in their walled garden.  They followed this with garden games, lots of Cornish beer and scrumpy and a walk up through the meadow to the marquee for their reception.  I award Holly and Mark the prize for the funniest ever table plan, based on the most amusingly named spots in Cornwall!  Here is a little peep at their lovely day:

Great Barn weddings: a Devon celebration for Louise and Lee

It feels like a long time ago now, but back in May this year, Louise and Lee got married at the fabulous Great Barn at Higher Ashton in Devon.  The Great Barn is a converted 15th century barn near Exeter, and a really beautiful place for wedding celebrations.  We were lucky with the weather as well, with the most glorious early summer sunshine all day long.  It was a lovely, laid back day, with the ceremony and reception all at the same venue, giving the wedding guests plenty of time to relax and enjoy the surroundings.  The boys all arrived at the venue on the back of a tractor, then later on, Louise and Lee surprised the guests by doing the same!

Louise and Lee's wedding was one of the most fun celebrations I've photographed - not only did they have the wonderful Elfic the Jester there to entertain the children (and adults) during the drinks reception, and the incredible magician Dan Brazier in the evening, but all the guests took part in creating a 'marryoke' video during the day.  For the uninitiated (like myself), this involves the bride and groom choosing a song, then at various points throughout the day, the guests are filmed miming along to the words.  This is then edited together afterwards to create a somewhat hilarious music video style film from the day.  Yes, I did feature in it and no, I am not posting the link here..!  It was a really fun experience to photograph though, with some wonderful expressions and reactions from the people involved.

I've just ordered a beautiful fine art wedding album for Louise and Lee, so they have something a little bit special to look forward to!  I thought that they might like to see their wedding blogged here in the meantime, so here are some of the photos from their lovely day:

Devon baby & family photography: newborn Marina

Earlier this year, I had the wonderful experience of photographing the lovely Toomey family with their latest addition, newborn Marina.  It was a huge honour to be asked to capture these images, as Sarah is a very talented photographer herself (you can see her work here) - so, I have to say I was feeling a certain amount of pressure, but all three girls (and their parents!) were a real pleasure to photograph and I came away with some really beautiful images that they were delighted with.  I always really love taking photographs of newborn babies, as it is such a tiny window of opportunity to capture something so fleeting and precious.  It was even more special, having Marina's two elder sisters there as well, and just beautiful to see the three girls all together.  I hope you enjoy this selection from the session!
