Charlton House, Somerset: a lovely autumn wedding

Aaaaah, huge congratulations to Kate and James, who got married yesterday at the rather beautiful Charlton House in Somerset.  I really enjoy autumn and winter weddings - there is a particular quality to the light that you only get at this time of year, and I love the crisp feel in the air.  Charlton House was the perfect venue for an autumn wedding, with plenty of warm and welcoming indoor spaces for Kate and James and their guests to relax and celebrate in.  I loved the cosy feel late in the day, as the evening closed in outside and the candles were twinkling away indoors.  Having perfected the art of the international relationship, it was very fitting that the wedding was themed around travel, and the locations around the globe that were significant to them both.  I loved the stamp motif that Kate and James used to knit together their brilliant invitation with their reception theme.  Here is a quick preview of the images...

Tunnels Beaches wedding: a preview of Rhiannon and James' seaside celebrations

Bride and groom reflected in the sea

It has been an incredibly busy weekend, with a family photography session in South Devon on Friday, Rhiannon and James' beach wedding on Saturday and a very wet and rainy engagement shoot on the Quantocks this afternoon.  I should probably go and switch off for a bit, but first I did just want to show Rhiannon and James a little preview of their images.  It was amazing to listen to the sound of the waves while they said their vows yesterday, and I loved watching the sun setting over the sea later in the afternoon.  Tunnels Beaches at Ilfracombe, North Devon, is such a special wedding venue and it was a real pleasure to return there to photograph Rhiannon and James' beautiful day.  Thanks for being so lovely to photograph both of you - I hope you like these photographs!

Daisy & Sally's spectacular Cornish farm wedding: a preview

Yesterday, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Daisy and Sally's super stylish and wonderfully joyful wedding in Cornwall.  Following their official civil partnership the previous day, Sally's sister Rosie led a personal humanist ceremony for their friends and family, in a yurt at Sally's parents' farm near Helston.  More guests continued to join them throughout the day for much feasting and merriment, with an amazing buffet lunch followed by a cream tea, which was then followed later by a hog roast and the fabulous Cider Pig mobile bar. Not to mention possibly the largest bonfire that Cornwall has ever seen.

Daisy and Sally both have a real passion for contemporary crafts and an eye for the most beautiful of details.  The ampersand motif ran right through the day, including a large wooden version adorning the yurt for the ceremony and the incredible lightbulb version decorating the barn, both made by Daisy's dad!  All of Daisy and Sally's family had clearly worked so hard to bring this day together for them both, and it was an utterly beautiful and joyous celebration to be a part of.  Even the tractor had bows on it!  It is also possibly the only time I will ever get to photograph a specially made gents' 'pissoir' in a derelict barn - thank you to Sally's dad for this particularly unique opportunity..!  Anyway, enough words, as I really can't do it all justice... here are some pictures instead:

North Devon wedding preview: Kelly & Brian at Saunton Sands

Congratulations to Kelly and Brian, who got married yesterday in North Devon with a wonderful beach themed wedding day.  They had a long board for the table plan, shells decorating the tables and surfboard biscuits as favours, all set within the old-school seaside glamour of the magnificent Saunton Sands Hotel.  It was a gorgeous day to be a part of, especially being right on the beach - I loved starting the day down by the sea, watching the surfers and listening to the waves.  It was a real delight to head back down there towards the end of the day to capture some portraits of Kelly and Brian together on the sands.  Here are a few preview images:
