A North Devon pre-wedding session on the beach
Michaela and Jon have the most fantastic plans for their June wedding. One of the things they really love doing together is spending time in good 'proper' pubs, so they are using this idea to decorate their wedding marquee. As a fellow fan of good 'proper' pubs, I can't wait to see it! They also love spending time on the beach, so this seemed like a great plan for their pre-wedding session, despite it being January and close to zero degrees. We wandered around the sand dunes near Bideford in North Devon, and found this gorgeous spot overlooking the Taw Torridge estuary. A beautiful view, a warm blanket, a flask of hot coffee, a sneaky hip flask and lots of cuddles. And your photographer lurking nearby in the sand dunes. What more could you ask for?! Here is a quick peek at their engagement shoot - now I can't wait for the wedding!

Fine Art Wedding Albums
There are few things I like more than a big delivery of Fine Art Wedding Albums! Before sending some of these out to my lovely couples recently, I wanted to share just how amazing they are.
It is just so fantastic to see a couple's wedding day in print, with the story unfolding through the pages of the beautiful book. And beautiful books they are - I have tried to photograph and convey just how incredible these albums are, but to be completely honest, my images just don't do them justice. The quality of the printing is superb, with the tiniest details perfectly reproduced, and the deepest, richest colours just leaping off the pages. I love the smooth, matt finish of the fine art paper, the attention to detail on the handmade leather covers and the wonderful 'lay flat' pages that enable you to spread images right across the page. The archival paper and inks used ensure that the beautiful printing will last a lifetime and beyond. The albums provide a way for you to really treasure your photographs, presenting and preserving them in a way that can be handed down and enjoyed for generations to come.
I create a bespoke design for each wedding, so no two albums are ever the same. As a couple, you can choose your favourite images, view the drafts in an online gallery and make changes to the design until you are completely happy and love every single page. For the cover, you can choose from a huge range of beautiful leathers, natural silks, or a photo cotton option.
Each book is a work of art and the quality completely shines through. I cannot recommend them highly enough!
Fine Art Wedding Albums are available as part of my Wedding Photography Collections, or can be bought separately. If I have photographed your wedding previously, and your images are all still sitting on a hard drive waiting to be sorted out, then please do consider ordering an album... photographs are made to be printed, and there is nothing quite like having your own bespoke design celebrating your wedding day. Please get in touch for more information.
Ps... Fine Art Albums are not just for weddings, they also offer a really special way to preserve your family memories as well. Please ask me for more details about adding a Fine Art Album to your Family Photography Collection.

The detail in the reproduction of this cross stitching just blows me away...
You then have the option to order smaller copies of your main album - a perfect little duplicate with a cotton cover, with the same quality paper and printing as the main albums. Ideal gifts for parents or other relatives, and perfect for carrying around to show people!

A wedding at The Tithe Barn, Symondsbury: Katy & Steven
I have so many beautiful weddings to catch up with on the blog. I have just received the most wonderful set of Fine Art Wedding Albums for Katy and Steven, and it prompted me to put this blog post together to look back at their wedding day. It took place at the Tithe Barn at Symondsbury in Dorset, which was absolutely brand spanking new at the time of their wedding - well, they were wedding number two, so I think that still counts! With the iconic Colmers Hill in the background, pretty gardens and tons of light and space inside, the Tithe Barn is a gorgeous wedding venue and it was lovely to photograph a wedding there.
I absolutely loved Katy and Steven's day and the way they decorated the barn. The anchor motif, taken from Katy's tattoo, ran throughout everything, from the stationery and signposts to the wonderful bespoke light on the wall. The table places were beautifully cross stitched by Katy, bearing the names of their favourite metal and punk bands, which was just a fantastic juxtaposition, especially with the most exquisite floral arrangements around them as well. It was a wonderful day and I couldn't be more excited about delivering the albums! Also, massive congratulations to Katy and Steven, as their baby son was born a few weeks ago - just fantastic news. Here is a look back at their wedding day last summer...
Devon Family Photography: exploring the woodland in Exeter
When Emily booked me to photograph their family, she said that above everything else, she wanted to capture their family as it actually is - "a memory of how we are today: happy, grumpy, sad, excited, loving". The session was all about letting their family spend time together in the way that they normally do, and me photographing all of that for them. Which is exactly what we did - stomping through the forest, exploring the terrain, searching for the Gruffalo and firing imaginary arrows through the trees... with lots of smiles, a few tears and a little grumpiness, an injured hand and a get-better kiss from Mummy, some tired, cold shivers, a nice warm hot chocolate and lots and lots of laughter and cuddles! These images together create a really wonderful portrait of their family and I loved the opportunity to capture it for them. Special memories of these precious times, before little legs grow taller, tears no longer need wiping away and hand holding is stoutly refused!! Here are a few images from their session...
